X-Ray, MRI, CT, Dexa
The information provided by imaging studies is utilized for both the diagnosis and treatment of back and neck pain.
X-rays or plain films, which are also known as"conventional radiographs” are particularly useful as the first imaging study in diagnosing the initial onset of back or neck pain.
MRIs & CT Scans
MRI or CT scans are needed to diagnose a specific condition such as a disc herniation, nerve root compression or bone destruction.
Bone Density Testing (DEXA)
The extent of bone loss can be determined with a bone mineral density scan (DEXA). The results of the DEXA help your doctor estimate your risk for additional fractures in the spine and in other parts of your body. The DEXA results provide important information to help your doctor treat any bone density loss with medications.
